Brief Introduction<\/span><\/strong>

The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) appeared in December 2019. The World<\/span>Health Organization declared the outbreak of a pandemic in March 2020. As at<\/span>late February 2021, it had affected more than 113 million individuals with<\/span>
the total number of deaths have reached 2.5 million. The pandemic has hugely<\/span>disrupted the world socially and economically, and it has caused a\u00a0<\/span>substantial impact on mental health globally. This study aimed to\u00a0<\/span>investigate the attitudes and behaviors of mental health service users,\u00a0<\/span>caregivers and health service workers from selected Asia-Pacific countries,\u00a0<\/span>mainly Taiwan and Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. A cross sectional\u00a0<\/span>study has been conducted in National Cheng Kung University Hospital, Taiwan\u00a0<\/span>and University of Indonesia, Indonesia. Data was collected through an online\u00a0<\/span>questionnaire which includes items assessing awareness and response to the\u00a0<\/span>epidemic situation, interpersonal support, physical and mental health, life\u00a0<\/span>shock of the epidemic situation, resources possessed, sources of<\/span>
information, mood and anxiety status, and sociodemographic and clinical\u00a0<\/span>data. Currently, our preliminary results showed that the level of worrying\u00a0<\/span>towards pandemic is still prominent, but the ease of access and satisfaction\u00a0<\/span>towards mental health care may have returned to pre-COVID-19 pandemic level\u00a0<\/span>in medical centers in both Indonesia and Taiwan. COVID-19 pandemic have\u00a0<\/span>changed the usual mental health service delivery in Indonesia, but not as\u00a0<\/span>prominent in Taiwan. For mental health service users, caregivers and health\u00a0<\/span>professionals, this brought challenges due to reduced duration for treatment<\/span>
and may lead to less satisfying experience. Furthermore, the psychologica\u00a0<\/span>well-being in mental health workers is a hidden critical concern in a long\u00a0<\/span>run. The psychological well-being of health care workers, even mental health\u00a0<\/span>professionals, should also be promoted when the pandemic lasts longer than\u00a0<\/span>expected.<\/span>
