Directions for the Program in Environmental Humanities
National Taiwan Normal University
The EMI Certificate Program in Environmental Humanities at NTNU
Study and Application Regulations
Passed during the University’s 2nd University Council on 16th April, 2025
- To encourage interdisciplinary learning in the fields of literature, history, geography, art, life science and digital information, National Taiwan Normal University (hereinafter referred to as “the school”) provides the “The EMI Certificate Program in Environmental Humanities at NTNU” (hereinafter referred to as “the program”). The program is planned and co-organized by the Department of Chinese, Department of English, Department of History, Department of Geography, Department of Taiwan Cultures, Languages and Literature, Department of Life Science, Graduate Institute of Sustainability Management and Environmental Education, Graduate Institute of European Cultures and Tourism, Graduate Institute of Sport, Leisure and Hospitality Management, and the Center for General Education. The College of Liberal Arts serves as the chief organizer.
- Students should accomplish a minimum of 12 credits, including 3 from the required course and 9 from elective courses. For more course information, refer to “The EMI Certificate Program in Environmental Humanities at NTNU Course Requirements”.
- Accomplished courses which are same or similar to the program’s courses can be recognized after the review of program’s organizers; yet there is a limit up to 6 credits only.
- This program adopts a certification system. Students can apply through the academic system during the second semester of each academic year, following the schedule announced by the Office of Academic Affairs. Students who have obtained eligibility for the accredited program will have priority in course selection for the program during the initial course selection period. After completing the program’s course and credit requirements, students must submit an application form and transcript (all academic years). Upon verification by the program’s organizers, they can then apply for a certificate at the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Students who have officially registered for this program but have not yet completed the required courses and credits for this program, or those who have not registered for this program but have completed at least one-third of the program’s required credits, despite meeting their department’s (or institute’s) graduation requirements, may apply for an extension of their study period. Otherwise, they will be deemed to have forfeited their eligibility to complete the program. However, students admitted to master’s or doctoral programs within the Taiwan University System may apply to continue their studies in this program after enrollment.
- Related items not mentioned in the regulations will follow NTNU’s related regulations.
- The regulations are implemented or revised through the approval of the NTNU Academic Affairs Meeting.
