about The Program of Indigenous Education and Culture

Since 2015

To implement the provisions of Article 24 of the Indigenous Education Act (education for the Indigenous People), this program integrates the existing courses related to the Indigenous culture and education at NTNU, and plans to improve teacher training in the secondary education for the Indigenous communities.
The series of courses for teacher training majors enable future teachers in indigenous education to be teachers with multicultural literacy and to deepen their understanding of the value and cognition of the subjectivity of Indigenous People. The program provides courses to improve teachers’ capacities in Indigenous education pedagogy, Indigenous languages, Indigenous societies, and related professional knowledge and training. It aims to lead the Indigenous education as Indigenous People-based education, to inherit indigenous knowledge systems, facilitate diverse talents of indigenous youths, and revitalize the Indigenous cultures and development.
