Deadline: 12/12 “Change, Resilience, and Sustainability: Integrating Historical and Geographical Perspectives in Research and Practice”

Since 2008, the Department of History and Geography at the University of Taipei has organized the “Annual Conference on History and Geography.” Now in its 19th year, the conference aims to promote interdisciplinary academic exchange between history and geography, and to encourage master’s and doctoral students to present their research findings.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Change, Resilience, and Sustainability: Spatiotemporal Integrated Research and Practice in History and Geography.” Through the lens of historical diachronic perspective and geographical spatial perspective, the conference will explore topics such as human-land relationships, regional culture, environmental change, social resilience, and history and geography education. The sub-themes for submission include:

  • Interdisciplinary integrated research in history and geography.
  • Environmental change, disaster risk, and social resilience.
  • Sense of place, regional culture, and historical-literary practice.
  • Practical teaching and innovative perspectives in history and geography.
  • Free-topic paper submissions from master’s and doctoral students.

Conference information is as follows:

  • Date: Saturday, December 12, 2026.
  • Venue: Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Gongcheng Building, Bo-Ai Campus, University of Taipei.
  • Organizer: Department of History and Geography, University of Taipei.
  • Co-organizer: College of Humanities and Arts, University of Taipei.

The conference adopts an “abstract review system.” Abstracts should generally be within 1,000 words (excluding references) and must be submitted by 12:00 PM (noon) on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Following a double-blind peer review, the results of the abstract evaluation are scheduled to be announced by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026. Authors whose abstracts are accepted must submit their full papers by 12:00 PM (noon) on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, in accordance with the regulations.
