Prof. Ir. Dwikorita Karnawati, the President of Universitas Gadjah Mada came to NTNU with 19 deans and professors on April 25th. President Wu Cheng Chih, Vice President Frank Y-H Ying and many other Deans, Directors and Professors came to welcome the guest.
Gadjah Mada University (Indonesian: Universitas Gadjah Mada; abbreviated as UGM) is a public research university located in Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Officially founded on 19 December 1949, Gadjah Mada University is one of the oldest and largest institutions of higher education in the country. It has been credited as one of the most prestigious universities in Indonesia, along with the Bandung Institute of Technology and the University of Indonesia. Comprising 18 faculties and 27 research centers, UGM offers 68 undergraduate, 23 diploma, 104 master and specialist, and 43 doctorate study programs. The university has enrolled approximately 55,000 students, 1,187 foreign students, and has 2,500 faculty members. UGM is one of the most historical and largest universities in Indonesia.
Yogyakarta is a city on the island of Java in Indonesia, renowned as a center of education. Gadjah Mada University is famous in medicine, electronic engineering, social science, agriculture, silviculture and performing arts.
The Faculty of Geography of UGM signed an agreement with the College of Liberal Arts in January and signed an MOU. This is the first visit of President of UGM to NTNU. This time, in addition to sharing academic achievements, representatives from UGM also came for the signing ceremony of Faculty exchange agreement.
After the signing ceremony, a forum was held. Faculties or both sides talked about the strength and advantage. UGM shared their experience of working with other universities in Taiwan and hoped to build a positive relationship with NTNU for academic collaboration.
NTNU Ambassadors guided the guests for a campus tour at Wen Huei Hall, the Hal, Department of Music, swimming pool as well as the College of Technology and Engineering. Professors and graduate students showed the guests the maker classroom of the Department of Technology Application and Human Resource and the robot center of the Department of Electrical Engineering. The guests are impressive about NTNU after this trip.
