Introduction

Ibaraki Prefecture, located in the National Capital Region, is given a bountiful land and rich water environment, and also has rich and varied industries such as agriculture and manufacturing. With 5 colleges, Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Science, Engineering, and Agriculture.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has three departments, Modern Sociology Department, Law and Economics Department and Humanities and Culture Department.

“Modern Sociology Department” let the students acquire the ability to disseminate by using various media to investigate in the local and international fields. “Law and Economics Department” make the students think about what to do with consumers and companies from the viewpoint of law and economics. And the Department of Humanities and Culture, which learns about human activities in the east and west   and thinks about new thoughts of society.

Moreover, it provides foreign students with Japanese language classes that have been carefully designed with them in mind.

Student Status

An exchange student from a partner university is accepted as a “Special Auditor” at Ibaraki University. Special auditors must take at least 7 classes (equivalent 10 hours) per week in accordance with Japanese immigration regulations.

Housing

Exchange students have priority for living in a university dormitory.

Monthly Rent: 5,900 JPY– 20,400 20,400 JPY

Monthly Common Fee: 1,000 JPY

Cleaning Fee for period of stay: 16,000

If there are no rooms available in the dormitory, applicants will need to rent a private apartment near campus.

Monthly rent typically costs between 30,000 JPY and 40,000 JPY.
