Date: Oct. 14, welcome to join the lecture “Reading History Then, Participating in History Now: Imagining a City After Graduating from the Department of History”

As graduates of the Department of History, once we leave behind historical sources and textual research, how can we transform our understanding of the past into an imagination for the future?

When entering the public service sector, history is no longer just words in a book. Instead, it becomes the restoration of a historical site, the transformation of a local festival, the positioning of a museum, or even the practical process of redefining local memory.

This lecture invites Alumna Yu-Jing Chen from the Cultural Affairs Bureau to chat with us: How did this path unfold from being a “person who reads history” to a “person who participates in history”? What does cultural work in the public sector actually look like? And how can we use a historical-cultural perspective to sketch a warmer blueprint for the city we live in?
