2018 South East Asia Education and Humanity Dean’s Forum at NTNU

In response to the New South Bond policy, the Taiwan Strategic Alliance for Colleges of Education and Humanity/National Taiwan University System (TSA-CEH/NTUS) held a 2018 South East Asia Education and Humanity Dean’s Forum on March 12th. 14 deans and deputy deans from six top universities in the region paid a visit to NTNU and had an in-depth discussion with 20 academic leaders and outstanding professors.
The Taiwan Strategic Alliance for Colleges of Education and Humanity / National Taiwan University System is lead by NTNU, who integrates the resources and people of National Taiwan University (NTU), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), and National Cheng Chi University (NCCU) and contact major universities in South East Asia. Except for University of the Philippines, which have signed a MOU with the alliance in November 2017, representatives from University of Indonesia, University Pendidikan Indonesia, University of Malaya, Chiang Mai Univeristy and Vietnam National University, HCM joined the forum.
Vice President Sung Yao Ting and Dean of the College of Education Chen Hsueh Chih greeted the guest at the open ceremony and expressed their hope to integrate resources of both sides to build a functioning platform of cooperation.
According to Dean Chen, about 30,000 South East Asian students come to Taiwan every year. This forum is an important milestone for the higher education between universities in South East Asia and Taiwan. He hoped that this platform can be a start of cooperation on a global scale and bring continuous academic exchange opportunities. After this forum, universities of both sides can be complementary to each other on resources and a road of mutual understanding was widely opened.
