【Event Highlights】2024/04/29 EMI Crafting Your Career Narrative: CV and Resume

On April 29th, College of Liberal Arts hosted a captivating writing workshop entitled “Crafting Your Career Narrative: CV and Resume.” This workshop was led by Mr. Antony Parnigony who has been teaching business writing and academic research writing in many universities around the city. Served as the second session of the writing workshop, it proved to be a valuable exercise for students from various departments, and it offered them a chance to refresh their understanding of CV and resume basics, while also offered a guidance on how to build a strong and interesting story about their careers.

To begin with, Mr. Parnigony’s presentation unpacked the key distinctions between CVs and resumes, making sure that everyone was on the same page. Then, he provided a diverse range of template modalities, which cater to different career paths and individual preferences. Everyone then embarked on a detailed examination of each resume section, exploring its function and the best ways to showcase their skills and experience.

In the last section, Mr. Parnigony also shed light on common mistakes to avoid when writing a resume. This exercise reminded everyone to refine their resumes and approach future applications with greater confidence.

Everyone at the workshop was excited to learn and improve their resumes. Even though they came from different departments, they all shared the goal of advancing their careers. The workshop was interactive, which made it even better. Everyone got to talk to each other and share ideas, which was really helpful.
