Professor Toby Lincoln from the University of Leicester visited The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at NTNU

On August 28th, Professor Toby Lincoln from the University of Leicester visited The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) at NTNU. He was warmly received by the delegates from CLA, including Prof. Joan Chiung-huei Chang, CLA Associate Dean, Prof. Ann Heylen, director of International Taiwan Studies Center (ITSC), Prof. Chao-yang Chen, chair of the Department of History and Prof. Tsong-han Lee, associate chair of the Department of History.

Professor Toby Lincoln is a scholar of Chinese urbanization based at the Center for Urban History, University of Leicester. His research specialties include the 20th century urban morphology, the changing rural-urban relationship and daily life in different environments. Professor Chao-yang Chen extended his warm invitation for Professor Lincoln to become a visiting professor at NTNU, with the possibility of offering elective courses starting in 2025.

Moreover, as NTNU has already signed an international cooperation memorandum with the University of Leicester, Professor Lincoln enthusiastically welcomes our doctoral students to undertake research visits to their university. For research visits lasting less than six months, students are not required to provide English proficiency certificates, such as IELTS. This convenience would spur strong motivation for our doctoral students to engage in international exchange.

Thanks to Professor Ann Heylen who initiated this visit, the meeting was successful, and we all look forward to  our future collaborations.
